We use a range of remote-sensing tools to identify areas with high carbon sequestration potential and relatively low agricultural value and then pursue those both on- and off-market. Our view is that smaller, intensive carbon and biodiversity projects offer the best returns for nature and for the company. Rather than fencing off large areas to other activities, our environmental projects are part of a patchwork of land uses, including agriculture.

Focus on Environmental Outcomes

Our ACCU projects are multifaceted in that they support a range of ecosystem services, including carbon sequestration, increasing biodiversity, and improving soil and water health. This means we go well beyond the minimum requirements of the ACCU scheme, planting trees at greater densities and a much broader range of species. Our Gurrabeal Reforestation project, for example, has been designed to specifically support the cold-climate Koalas native to the area.

Establishment Costs

Our in-house expertise in agriculture, forestry and finance is such that we don’t need to cut environmental corners to achieve cost savings. We believe we are one of the lowest cost producers of Environmental Plantings ACCUs, while also delivering far greater environmental benefits than our competitors.
